Pioneering the Potential+<\/sup> 2024 is a series of events, including the following:<\/h3>\n

A Micro-Conference and talks evening<\/strong>, a Sussex Weald projects tour<\/strong> and a Design & Make workshop<\/strong> hosted by Fourth Door Research<\/a><\/p>\n

Evening talks and micro-conference<\/h3>\n

This year\u2019s Pioneering the Potential+<\/sup><\/strong> encompasses wood and timber culture across contemporary architecture, engineering, <\/strong>and materials<\/strong> through to art, design <\/strong>and craft<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And there\u2019s the +<\/sup><\/strong> – Bio and Land based materials: Straw from Paris, earth tiles from Vorarlberg, Austria and chalk buildings from Sussex and Kent.<\/p>\n

Afternoon coach tour<\/h3>\n

20th September \u2013 Afternoon coach tour \u2013 13.30 \u2013 18.00 – Flimwell Park <\/strong>and Wilderness Wood\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The coach tour features the recent Flimwell Park mixed use development in Flimwell, Sussex, and Wilderness Wood, the adult and children making and building hub in Hadlow Down.<\/p>\n

\nWith tea and cake from the Hatch followed by an introduction to and tour of Wilderness Wood (in three groups) with Emily Charkin, Dan Morrish <\/strong>and Will Gubbins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nCANCELLED – Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control we have had to cancel the Design & Make workshop.<\/font><\/p>\n

18-19th September \u2013 9.00 – 18.00 – Collaborative Collisions<\/strong>, Lewes Phoenix Estate (venue to be confirmed)<\/p>\n

Two day design & make workshop – students and faculty from the Bartlett School of Architectures Here East Design for Manufacture MArch course<\/a> will be working with local timber framers and carpenters.<\/p>\n

Pioneering the Potential 2024<\/strong> is the fifth year of Fourth Door\u2019s Pioneering the Potential events, first initiated in 2019 to highlight and draw attention to regional Weald & Downland wood, timber and natural materials cultures.<\/p>\n

Fourth Door<\/a> – is a media, communications, events, and research platform, generally working in collaboration with a variety of partners. In addition, Fourth Door Research provides one-off consultancy and research.<\/p>\n
